Can Whisply be excluded when I share my screen?

Whisply uses macOS window-sharing and capture-exclusion controls to keep protected windows out of supported capture paths. Results depend on your macOS version, the app, and the capture method. Whisply shows its protection state; verify the exact setup before relying on it.

Is capture protection guaranteed for every recorder?

No. Protected windows are excluded from supported macOS screenshots, recordings, and screen-share paths, but third-party software can use different capture or accessibility techniques and can change without notice. Protection is a best-effort technical control, not a promise of invisibility.

How do I know protection is active?

Use the protection status shown in Whisply and run a harmless test with the same Mac, display, macOS version, and capture application you plan to use. If Whisply cannot guarantee an exclusion for the selected path, it should report the limitation instead of claiming protection.

What about external monitors and AirPlay mirroring?

Display topology and mirroring can change the capture path. A protected window is scoped to the display where it is presented, but AirPlay, hardware capture, cameras, remote-management tools, and mirrored frame buffers may observe the final display output. Do not rely on capture exclusion for those paths.

Can I use Whisply during interviews and meetings?

Only when your use complies with applicable law, participant expectations, employer or platform rules, confidentiality duties, and any required notice or consent. Whisply cannot determine that for every situation. Capture exclusion does not remove those responsibilities.

What about proctored exams and lockdown browsers?

Pro Max includes an opt-in device-level Exam Mode for the supported software listed on this page. It is separate from the Exam Assistance prompt preset. Technical support never means outside assistance is permitted: use it in an assessed setting only when the applicable rules allow it and you have any required permission.

Protection you can reason about

Whisply marks protected windows with macOS sharing and capture-exclusion controls. Supported screenshots, recordings, and screen-sharing paths omit those windows while leaving them visible on your display. The app keeps this separate from microphone, system-audio, screen-context, and connector controls, so enabling a prompt mode never starts capture.

The boundary matters

Capture exclusion is not universal invisibility. A different macOS release, third-party capture engine, hardware recorder, camera, remote administration tool, accessibility inspection, mirrored display, or proctor update may use a path that does not honor the same controls. Whisply treats protection as best effort and you should test the exact environment before relying on it.

Unavailable: Whisply cannot enforce the exclusion and does not claim that it can.

Exam Mode for proctored exams

Pro Max can be switched into Exam Mode for specifically supported assessment software. This is a device-level compatibility feature, not the Exam Assistance chat preset, and selecting either one does not start microphone, system audio, screen context, or a model request by itself.

Permission is separate from compatibility

A supported environment does not mean Whisply is allowed there. Use outside assistance in an interview, exam, certification, assignment, or workplace process only when the applicable rules permit it. You are responsible for notice, consent, confidentiality, and integrity obligations described in the Terms and Privacy Policy.

Your data stays yours

Conversations are processed for your answers and notes, and nothing is shared with anyone unless you create a share link yourself.
